. . . a man lived, and a legend was born . . .

[Description by Uncle Ricky]

This is one of those DX recordings that was interesting because you couldn't just sit down at your browser and listen to a distant radio station, and, some distant radio stations were worth the effort. This exhibit was pieced together from clips saved on a "cheap tape recorder" (with thanks to our contributor). The noise level is extremely high in places, the audio drops out here and there, but in general, you'll hear the worst, first. It gets better as it goes along. I did 6+ passes on this one with very conservative noise and hiss reduction, and selective super narrow notch filters to reduce those strange AM radio squeals and squeaks. It's still noisy as a leaf blower on Sunday morning, but it's NATURAL.

Tommy Edwards is featured on the day after Elvis Presley died. It is being presented in August, 2007 — 30 years later, and it's interesting to remember the huge impact that Presley's death had on Top 40 radio. Edwards plays a few Elvis tunes, but he also features an early Elvis interview and repeatedly offers suggestions as to how listeners might pay their respects.
